Phase Five Pre-School is run by a management committee made up of volunteers. The Pre-School Manager and staff organise the daily running of the Pre-School whilst the management committee, whose members are elected by the parents of the children who attend the Pre-School, are legally responsible for the Pre-School. The elections take place at our Annual General Meeting, which is held in October, annually. Our Annual General Meeting is open to the parents of all of the children who attend the Pre-School. It is our shared forum for looking back over the previous year’s activities and shaping the coming years plan.
The committee is responsible for:
The committee share many of the tasks involved in managing the Pre-school with the Pre-school Manager.
The committee are not just involved in the serious and legal running of the Pre-school but also the many fun aspects as well! The committee assists with the various fundraising events held at the Pre-school, children’s parties and concerts. The committee also take away some jobs from the staff to assist them, such as wrapping up the children’s Christmas presents, helping out at the sponsor events, fayres, gardening and DIY tasks.
The fundraising by the committee enables us to continue to purchase new toys and equipment for the Pre-school, thus enriching the children’s experiences at Phase Five.
Joining the committee is a great way to meet other parents and please do not feel you have to take on an officers role as the role of a general committee member is just as important. By joining the committee we are not asking for you to give all of your spare time, meetings take place once a term and you can do as little or as much as you want.
